• The dual culture: understanding of production constraints (availability, safety, fifteen-year life cycles) and cyber issues, with examples of trade-offs made
• Hands-on knowledge of environments: industrial protocols, IEC 62443 architectures, IT/OT segmentation, equipment and PLCs encountered
• For embedded profiles: hardware security, secure boot, update chain, firmware analysis, Cyber Resilience Act requirements
• The ability to work with production teams, automation engineers and suppliers without imposing unsuitable IT methods
• Regulatory experience: NIS 2, the French Military Programming Law (LPM) for operators of vital importance, IEC 62443, sector requirements (energy, transport, healthcare, defence)

Few public studies isolate OT roles; the ranges above are based on security engineering and consulting benchmarks, pushed upwards by the scarcity of IT/OT profiles. Defence and energy companies and equipment manufacturers are the most competitive employers.

1. Scoping (a few days): scope, technical environment, expected level, target salary, attractiveness pitch. We tell you frankly whether the role is realistic at the planned salary.
2. Multi-source research and direct approach (two to three weeks): identification of candidates currently in post through multi-source research, followed by personal contact, in France and neighbouring French-speaking countries.
3. Qualification: in-depth interview with a recruiter specialised in the field and, optionally, a tailored technical test or your own internal tests.
4. Shortlist within three to four weeks: two to four candidates presented with their background, the recruiter’s assessment, test results where applicable, motivations and conditions.
5. Interviews, offer and follow-up: support through to signature, reference checks with the candidate’s consent, review at the end of the probation period.
